A fisherman was walking to a fishing spot in northern Russia’s Yakutia Republic when a large brown bear attacked him from behind.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Igor Vorozhbitsyn’s phone’s ringtone, “Baby” by Justin Bieber, went off and startled the bear just as it began to claw him.
The bear then pulled up from its attack and escaped.
“I couldn’t believe my luck when the phone went off and [it] fled,” the 42-year-old recounted.
He went on to say: “I know that sort of ringtone isn’t to everyone’s taste but my granddaughter loaded it onto my phone [as] a joke.”
A wildlife expert also shared that a sharp disturbance, such as a phone’s ringtone, can be helpful in scaring even the largest of bears away.
