It depends on what kind of fish you are trying to catch. If you are targeting the small tamban (herring) bait fishes near the jetty itself, the early morning – between 630am and 830am – would be most ideal as they primarily feed at first light.
On the other hand, if you were going after bigger game fishes in the sea itself, fish when the current is smooth, gentle and moving. This is usually near the end of a receding tide (down tide), the beginning of a rising tide (up tide), or just before the tide is at its highest (full tide). Check the tide table to find out what these times are and go fishing during these times.
Using the above tide table as an example, let us look at the first listed tide. 1246am would be when the tide is at its highest, otherwise known as a full tide. The period from 1246am to 624am, on the other hand, would be the receding tide, while the period from 624am to 1154am would be the rising tide.
