The fishing pond at Pasir Ris Town Park will officially re-open its doors on 9 August with a competition.

The organisers of the event haven’t released details of how they will pick the winners, but there will be S$10,000 worth of cash to be won.

The top three anglers will receive the money and seven others will pick up consolation prizes.

There will also be a lucky draw on the day of the competition.

As a lead up to the grand opening on National Day, the pond will be open for free fishing on 31 July, from 9pm-7am.

During this time, there will be about 500 fishes in the water.

According to the organisers, they will release 1,500kg worth of fishes into the pond on 1 August to set the stage for the competition eight days later.
